2008 was another fantastic year for North Sails One Design in the Finn Class, with the highlight being our eighth consecutive World Championship title! North Sails customers also won every ISAF Grade 1 regatta this year, as well as the Olympics in Qingdao.
We are very proud of the consistency and quality of our sails as every customer’s sail is custom built to suit individual mast bend characteristics. This ensures performance, repeatability and customer satisfaction.

Over the years our team has spent hundreds of hours developing shapes to produce a range of designs that covers the whole wind spectrum for all sailors. For 2009 we are promoting the following models:
HV-2C All Purpose Mainsail
The HV-2C is our all purpose mainsail. Mmanufactured from custom built Technora laminate, we use a 1mil film in the leech, head and foot panels and 0.75mil film in the luff section taht allows the sail to be competitive throughout the whole wind range. This is our recommended fabric mix for the HV-2 mold; however we can manufacture this HV-2 design shape in any fabric combination - the HV2 and HV2L.
The sail comes complete with class insignia, sail numbers, sail battens, windows, tell tales, Class Label, Sail Measurement and sail bag.
HV2 Heavy Air Mainsail
Popular class standard upper-range sail; built entirely of 1mil film Technora. Same design as the HV2C and HV2L.
The sail comes complete with class insignia, sail numbers, sail battens, windows, tell tales, Class Label, Sail Measurement and sail bag.
HV2L Light to Moderate Air Mainsail
Popular class standard; built entirely of 0.75mil film Technora. Same design as the HV2 and HV2C.
The sail comes complete with class insignia, sail numbers, sail battens, windows, tell tales, Class Label, Sail Measurement and sail bag.
M-1 All Purpose Mainsail for Avarage/Heavier Sailor
The M-1 is Ben Ainslie 2008 Olympics all purpose mainsail.The sail is slightly deeper than the HV-2 in order to generate more power; however, the luff panels are rocked so that the fibers follow the cunningham loads, allowing the sail to be de-powered more easily. Manufactured from custom-built Technora laminate, we use a 1mil film in the leech, head and foot panels and 0.75mil film in the luff section, this allows the sail to be competitive throughout the whole wind range. This is our recommended fabric mix for the M-1 mold, however we can manufacture this M-1 design shape in any fabric combination – All 0.75mil M-1L, for example.

H-5 All Purpose Mainsail for Lighter Sailor
The H-5 is our all purpose mainsail for the lighter Finn sailor. The H-5 is our all-purpose mainsail for the lighter Finn sailor. Designed 1/2% flatter than the HV-2 the H-5 is a more manageable sail in stronger breeze as used by Zach Railey to win Silver in China. Manufactured from custom-built Technora laminate, we use a 1mil film in the leech, head and foot panels and 0.75mil film in the luff section, this allows the sail to be competitive throughout the whole wind range. This is our recommended fabric mix for the H-5 mold, however we can manufacture this H-5 design shape in any fabric combination.

KA-2 Light Air Poly Mainsail
The KA-2 is our light wind 0-10 knot mainsail. It is the same depth as the HV-2 but has a finer entry and straighter exit angle in the lower 1/3 of the sail. The KA-2 was used to win Silver and Bronze in China. The sail is manufactured from Bainbridge SL-500 Polyester.
The sail comes complete with class insignia, sail numbers, sail battens, windows, tell tales, Class Label, Sail Measurement and sail bag.
M-05 Light Air Poly Mainsail
The M-05 is Ben Ainslie 2008 Olympics light wind 0-10 knot mainsail. Built with slightly less luff curve than the M-1 mainsail to allow for a higher boom off the deck in the lighter conditions. Manufactured from Bainbridge SL-500 Polyester.
The sail comes complete with class insignia, sail numbers, sail battens, windows, tell tales, Class Label, Sail Measurement and sail bag.
