Robby Brown

 Robby Brown is a Florida native who is currently residing in St. Petersburg having relocated from Jacksonville three years ago. While in Jacksonville, Robby worked for several Sailmakers over a twelve-year period. He sailed on numerous medium sized PHRF keelboats, J24s and Thistles. Prior to moving to St. Petersburg, he found himself sailing in the Tampa Bay area extensively, especially during the Spring, at all of the class boat Midwinters that are sailed in the area each year. Since he was in the area so much and really enjoyed Tampa Bay, he decided to move there.
Once he had moved to St. Petersburg, Robby joined “the Sailingest Club in the South,” Davis Island Yacht Club. Davis Island is the host yacht club for the J24 Midwinters for the past few years and being a local certainly helped him win the J24 Widwinters by, as it turned out, a comfortable margin. His second achievement, which earned him the award of North Sails One Design Sailor of the Month, was his winning performance in the Thistle Southern Circuit. The Southern Circuit consists of the sixty-five boat Midwinters in St. Pete and the fifty-five boat Orange Peel Regatta in Jacksonville. Robby finished third at each event scoring an overall victory against some very accomplished Thistle skippers and crews.
Robby grew up in Miami sailing Optis and International 420s before becoming a Collegiate All-American at the Naval Academy. His accomplishments while there include numerous wins in double-handed events, first in the Sloop Champs and third in the Single-handed Championships. Robby is always looking for good opportunities to go racing. He has done numerous Key West Race Weeks, sailed in lots of offshore races and many other race weeks including the NOOD events. Robby has also skippered in the Hobie 33 and Tartan Ten classes, the Star class, the Flying Scot class, the Laser class, and sailed on Etchells and some trapeze boats as crew.
Robby presently is a sales representative with North Sails One Design. He travels as much as time and money will allow during the summer, in addition to his local Spring Midwinters Championships circuit, attending mostly class boat regattas. He owns a J24, Lightning, Thistle and Snipe. He sails in all of these classes as much as possible. Robby loves meeting people at regattas and the good Corinthian competition on the water.
